Orkney

The Orkney Islands are made up of 70 islands, of which only 16 are inhabited, the 2 main towns are Kirkwall and Stromness that are situated on the mainland. You can range from dramatic sea cliffs to white sandy beaches. More than 1000 prehistoric sites have been identified, the most important are Skara Brae, a 4500-year-old village, the tomb of Maeshowe and the mysterious Ring of Brodgar.
